Privacy policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Screenfly (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit screenfly.app (and related marketing pages) or use the Screenfly application (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy together with our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

Account and authentication data: identifiers such as email address, OAuth subject identifiers, and session tokens provided by our authentication vendor (Supabase Auth).

User Content: recordings, baked videos, subtitles, narration assets, thumbnails, project metadata, share tokens, and similar materials you upload or generate in the product.

Billing data: subscription status, plan tier, and payment-related identifiers processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on Screenfly-controlled databases.

Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP, diagnostic logs, and usage events used to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

Communications: messages you send to support or forms on the marketing site.

How we use information

Provide and maintain the Service, including Studio features, storage, bake jobs, share viewers, and customer support.

Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce terms, and protect the security and integrity of our systems.

Bill and collect payments, send transactional notices, and manage subscriptions.

Analyze aggregated usage to improve performance and user experience.

Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

How we share information

Service providers (subprocessors) who assist with hosting, storage, databases, authentication, payments, email delivery, analytics, and AI inference, subject to confidentiality and security obligations.

With your direction, for example when you create a public share link viewable without signing in.

Legal and safety: where required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security of users, Screenfly, or the public.

Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.

Retention

We retain User Content for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, recovery, and legal compliance. You may delete certain content in-product subject to technical constraints; residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period.

We retain billing records as required for tax, accounting, and dispute resolution.

Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit where supported, access controls, and least-privilege engineering practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

International transfers

We may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our vendors operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, or port your data. To exercise rights, contact us using the addresses on the Contact page. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate the Service — for example, session and authentication cookies on the product app, and a small first-party identifier on marketing pages so we can remember your cookie choices.

On the marketing site, optional analytics or marketing cookies are only enabled if you accept them through the cookie banner. Your choices are stored locally on your device and we record the decision (including a random visitor identifier, policy version, and timestamp) in our database for compliance and aggregate reporting.

You can withdraw or change optional choices using the banner when we show it again (for example after we update this policy). You can also clear site data for our domains in your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice.
